Lincoln Wine Fest – Placer County Staple
Postponed for Now
The Lincoln Wine Fest is a highly-anticipated annual event in the community and fun for both wine aficionados and novices alike. Unlike other wine festivals, this takes place in two square blocks of retail shops and restaurants around Beermann Plaza in historic downtown Lincoln, CA. Gather your friends and enjoy the shops, taste wine from numerous wineries and breweries from Placer County, and shop as you go. Historically it falls on the last Saturday in April, so save the date early.
Not only is the event beneficial to the community, Lincoln is considered the “Gateway to the Placer County Wine and Ale Trail”. Attendees get to enjoy and sample both during the event. Many wineries pour their version of a Sierra Foothills favorite varietal, Zinfandel. The event is sponsored by Rotary Club of Lincoln. Together, they partner with the Lincoln Downtown Association and many other local partners, to consistently be touted as one of the “best wine festivals in Placer County”.
While the wines from Placer County being poured are always the star of the event at the Lincoln Wine Fest, the delicious small bites served by some of Lincoln’s best food suppliers are what makes this a perfect day to try new restaurants, vendors, and retailers. The variety ranges from Double Barrel BBQ bites and Old Town Pizza’s highly-sought after pizza tastes, to authentic Mexican fair and street tacos, baked goodies and pasta salad from Country Harvest, and even chocolates. These are just a few of the delicious restaurants that offer their time and culinary talents so the Lincoln Wine Fest is a day to remember.
“The Lincoln Wine Fest is by far the best event for bringing visitors and customers into my shop,” Jim D’Ambrosio of Lincoln Gold & Coin said. “We love it.”
Beer Here!
Two downtown Lincoln restaurants make their own beer: Buonarroti’s and Double Barrel Smokehouse. Both restaurants previously showcased their products in the Beer Garden, which was located at Freedom Rides, 643 Lincoln Boulevard in 2018 and 2019. Lincoln favorite Dueling Dogs also poured its beer and mead in 2018 and 2019. Loomis Basin Brewing Co. joined the festivities in 2019 also as an event newcomer.
Alcoholic Kombucha?
New in 2019 was samples of alcoholic kombucha from Boochcraft, California’s first hard kombucha producer with flavors such as Grapefruit + Hibiscus + Heather, and Apple + Lime + Jasmine. Boochcraft was located at a new children’s clothing retailer included in the event, La Piccolina, at 615 5th St.
The Lincoln Wine Fest has it all – lots of fun, great eats, fabulous wine, local beer, shopping opportunities, and hard kombucha. Live music playing in Beermann Plaza, and Hans Anderson on Lincoln Boulevard ensure the ambiance is festive and ready for dancing.
WINE-ding Down
Don’t forget to head back to Beermann Plaza at the end of the event for a glass of wine at the Wine Garden. The Plaza has live music and a chance to win generous wine-related raffle prizes provided by the wineries of Placer County. Keep track of the wines you like throughout the day because a Bottle Shop is available. They can take your order and the wines you select are boxed up and ready to take home that day!
